Costa is back in the news with a widely reported incident where the Costa Pacifica cruise ship violently struck a piling in the Port of Marseille this morning. The cruise ship sustained a gash of around 8 meters long, which luckily is above the waterline.
Costa down-played the incident stating that the damage was just
BBC News reports that a collision between a cargo ship, the German owned and Cyprus-registered Corvus J, and a car carrier, the Greek owned and Bahamian-flagged Baltic Ace, resulted in the sinking of the Baltic Ace.
Eleven crew members from the Baltic Ace are lost or missing in the freezing waters of the North Sea.

Eight passengers from the cruise ferry Bahuga Jaya are reported dead after a collision in Indonesian waters.
The LPG tanker Norgas Cathinka struck and sank the Bahuga Jaya, which is a Ro-Ro passenger cruise ferry vessel, near the port of Merak, Indonesia.

A passenger aboard Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas video-taped the collision with the NCL Norwegian Star last week (September 14, 2012) in port in Bermuda.
