Quite often, the problems with the cruise industry’s poor image
Ever since the Costa Concordia disaster, cruise lines have increasingly resorted to paying for press releases to try and convince the public to cruise.
The latest press release was by Carnival Cruise Line yesterday, announcing that the cruise line has partnered with the New Orleans Saints.
Carnival will be sponsoring some type of half-time promotion
The Gazzetta del Sud newspaper reports that government officials in Rome, Italy ordered a halt to large cruise ships passing through the Venice lagoon, effective November 2014. The outright ban on cruise ships applies to those ships over 96,000 tons. (The Costa Concordia is 114,500 tons).
The legislation comes after years of debate and highly charged

A local CBS news station is reporting that two cruise passengers were seriously injured on a cruise ship that has docked at Port Canaveral, Florida.
The news station says that a man suffered a neck injury and a woman in her 70s suffered some type of fracture while aboard the Norwegian Breakaway.

WGNO in New Orleans reports a NCL cruise passenger was enjoying the end of her birthday cruise when four armed U.S. Customs and Border agents with a canine "barged into her cabin, handcuffed and detained her for no reason." They then led her in handcuffs through the crowded cruise ship. Passenger Kristen Schroeder told WGNO:

The first video is from the bridge camera and shows waves striking over the bow.
The second and more dramatic video shows water smashing through a window and engulfing the interior of the cruise ship
CBS News aired a short special this morning on its show "CBS This Morning: Saturday."

Carnival Cruise Lines is dropping the British Virgin Islands port of Tortola next year.

News sources report that Royal Caribbean President Adam Goldstein sold 7,855 shares of RCL stock on the open market in a transaction yesterday.
