Several people on the Carnival Pride tell me that a fire occurred in the engine room of engine no. 1 last night.
One passenger described the fire as involving an explosion of the engine.
The fire was extinguished and the Pride was delayed arriving at the next port (Half Moon Cay) today.

Today I had an interesting exchange of information from a guest aboard the Queen Mary 2.
It seems that last night around midnight a German guest (not our source of information) reported that his wife was missing from the ship. He thought that she jumped overboard. There were allegedly footprints on the couple’s balcony table
A local news station in Boston (MyFoxBoston.com) reports that a young woman from New Hampshire is "fighting for her life after falling on a cruise ship."
MyFoxBoston reports that Christina Ricci was on the Carnival Victory with her boyfriend when she sustained a stroke.

The Tribune newspaper in the Bahamas has a headline Lawyer Says Nassau ‘Is A Dangerous Dump.’ It quotes me talking about Nassau, something I have done in the past when the Nassau Guardian quoted me saying that the Bahamas are ‘one gunshot away’ from cruise line exit.

Multiple news sources are reporting that a Carnival crew member was detained today in Puerto Rico on allegations that he raped a woman onboard the Carnival Liberty cruise ship.

There are reports that the Carnival Liberty cruise ship sustained an engine room fire today.
The fire took place when the cruise ship was docked in St. Thomas USVI. Cruise passengers were reportedly evacuated ashore, some wearing life vests.

Instead of hiring trained lifeguards in response to the drownings on the Sapphire Princess, Princess has tasked bartenders, dishwashers, and other crew members to add an hour of work each day to being "pool monitors" or "pool rovers".
