The captain of the Freedom of the Seas, Captain Ron Holmes, I am told by crew members is a good man. He is well liked and respected by the crew, from what the shipboard employees tell me.
After the fire, Captain Holmes, via a closed circuit television loop, explains to the passengers what just happened.
A passenger on the Freedom of the Seas sent us a copy of the video that he took of the fire.

According to a Greek newspaper, a cruise ship collided with a Greek Coast Guard today.
The Aegean Paradise and the Coast Guard vessel collided near Chios.
No injuries were reported in the collision.

Defense Imagery and Video Systems has reported that the U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 79 year-old passenger from the Carnival Breeze yesterday.

A Norwegian television station is reporting that a woman went overboard today from what is described as an "Italian cruise ship" near Flåm, Norway. The woman was critically injured.
TV 2 Nyhetene reports that the woman is 40 years of age and she went overboard after a violent episode with another person on the cruise ship.

Cape Cod Today reports that the U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a sick passenger from a Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) cruise ship near Cape Cod yesterday evening.
The Norwegian Dawn contacted the USCG’s station in Boston around 8:30 PM and said that a 19-year-old woman suffering from appendicitis needed medical help.
