Today, a court in Hungary sentenced the captain (master) of the Viking Sigyn river cruise ship to five years and six months in jail for his negligence in causing the sinking of a Hungarian sightseeing boat, the Hableany (“Mermaid”), on the Danube River during the evening of May 29, 2019.

A fire broke out on the Viking Orion cruise ship yesterday morning. Approximately 600 people on board were reportedly evacuated from the cruise ship around 8:10 a.m. Crew members quickly extinguished he fire which impacted three cabins.

The Viking Sky cruise ship lost power as it sailed toward Stavanger, Norway in heavy seas and wind today. The cruise ship issued a mayday call and many passengers were evacuated from the cruise ship via helicopter as the ship rocked back and forth in stormy weather.
