A New Zealand newspaper reports that the police in the port city of Tauranga are investigating sexual assault allegations made against a crew member of the Millennium cruise ship which docked at the port yesterday morning after sailing from Fiji.
Police state a woman in her late 40’s or early 50’s accuses one of the crew

An oil platform with 26 workers aboard exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. The explosion resulted in the death of at least two men with two additional men missing. Eleven workers were reportedly taken to the hospital, some of whom are in critical condition.
The explosion involved an oil platform, operated by Houston-based Black Elk
Latest CLIA Safety Policies: Too Little & Too Late
Travel Weekly reports that the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) announced three new policies designed to supposedly improve cruise ship safety after the Costa Concordia disaster earlier this year.
It’s great PR for the cruise industry. But like the other post-Concordia CLIA policies, there’s not much substance to the new procedures.

NCL Adopts “All You Can Drink” Policy
ABC News reports that Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has adopted an all-inclusive drink package on three of its cruise ships (Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Gem & Norwegian Jade) at $49 per person per day plus tips.
NCL is following Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean which all offer all-you-can-drink plans on their cruise ships.
