A young man was found deceased aboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas while the ship was in port in Singapore on January 19th, 2026. The cruise was finishing its three-night voyage to Penang Island in Malaysia when the incident occurred.
According to Singapore newspaper The Straits Times, police received a call about the incident at around 6:35 a.m. local time. Police told the newspaper the man was found motionless and was pronounced dead at the scene by the ship’s in-house doctor.
Singapore police do not suspect foul play. No information has been released about the man’s identity, the cause of death, or whether he was a crew member or passenger.
The Ovation of the Seas’ scheduled debarkation was delayed for a couple of hours as police investigated the death. The cruise continued on its next voyage, sailing back to Penang Island in Malaysia on January 19th.
