A Carnival Cruise Line passenger from Kingsport, Tennessee was arrested in Miami, Florida after federal authorities found child pornography on his phone according to court documents. Jason Alan Miller, 48, was arrested shortly after disembarking the Carnival Horizon and was charged with possession and transportation of child pornography.

At the port in Miami, Miller was reportedly selected for secondary inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers.

While searching his cell phone officers found several photos of suspected child sexual abuse material in the device’s saved Google Photos application in a folder named “telegram,” according to the affidavit. A special agent with Homeland Security Investigations reported observing a screenshot of a folder named “6yo_rare” that contained multiple photos of child sexual abuse material.

An affidavit filed by a Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) agent states that Miller admitted he knew there was child pornography on his cell phone.

The local news account reported that Miller was traveling with his pregnant wife and eight children, seven of whom were adopted after previously being foster children in the Miller household. Miller had fostered over a dozen children according to local reports.

Federal law carries mandatory minimum prison sentences for transporting child pornography. Miller remains in federal custody in Miami.
