The U.S. Department of State warns U.S. citizens about the risk of traveling to certain places in Mexico due to threats to safety and security posed by organized criminal groups in the country.

A passenger on the Carnival Triumph appears to have gone overboard last night.  

Carnival Cruise Director John Heald states on his Facebook page that "they are conducting a search and rescue – thoughts with the family at this time." 

The incident allegedly happened when the cruise ship was near Progreso, Mexico.

Passengers indicated that the incident apparently occurred off the coast of Mexico on January 3, 2014 as the ship sailed back to San Diego.
