Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) deputies arrested a cruise passenger at Port Everglades last Friday, April 3, for secretly recording a 15-year-old boy in the bathroom, according to Local 10 News. The name of the cruise ship was not disclosed.

The passenger, Kevin Six, 41, shared a room with the victim and the incident took place in their cabin bathroom. The victim referred to Six as a “friend” according to a statement by BSO deputies. The victim’s grandmother was also on the ship.

According to the BSO arrest report cited by Local 10, the victim went to shower in the cabin bathroom and discovered Six’s cell phone hidden inside a backpack with the camera pointed toward the shower. The victim grabbed the phone and saw it recording a video which he then watched. The video showed Six setting up his phone to face the shower briefly before the victim entered the room. The victim then recorded the video on his own phone before alerting cruise ship security.

The victim and Six were placed in isolation until the ship returned to Port Everglades later that day, where Six was arrested.

Six was charged with video voyeurism of a child less than 16 years old and was released on a $50,000 bond.

The incident is the latest example of how hidden-camera crimes continue to occur on cruise ships, especially when minors are involved. Cruise Law News has reported on several similar crimes on cruise ships, including the case of cruise passenger Jeremy Froias, who pleaded guilty to secretly filming more than 150 passengers, including children, in a public bathroom aboard Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas.

Cases like this are not isolated. They are part of a recurring pattern of voyeurism and sexual exploitation at sea.
